Application
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Mudano (Edinburgh, Scotland (UK)) in March 2018.
Interview
MUDANO is very disorganised and took weeks to actually get in touch with me. Then after the Interview even longer to respond. I would only recommend applying for this company as part of a bulk application because they do not care much about making a good impression or being civil.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Mudano (Edinburgh, Scotland (UK)) in October 2018.
Interview
Mudano interview process is slightly different than others. They initially started with the phone interview and find out if we are right candidate, once you've passed that there will be another technical interview. I've faced some problems with the site they were asked me to test, and I submitted the assignment without any code but written the test framework. I thought they wouldn't agree it, however the fault is from there side as the given site is not worked. So they were kindly given another opportunity and gave another assignment and I submitted on time . After the technical interview there is another techincal session which they invite us to there company and ask some questions on submitted assignment. Once you passed that I had another phone interview with the testers and asked some technical questions. Finally, I had a last interview with company chief product officer face to face.
Everything seems fine to me apart from some small mistakes. It will be good to have a proper interview strategy so that interviewer will expect what is next.
Interview Questions
Application
I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Mudano (Edinburgh, Scotland (UK)).
Interview
A warm, informal telephone call, a skills based interview with a presentation and a culture fit/ambitions final interview with one of the co-founders. It was challenging and the expected standards were very high but this was made clear in the initial telephone interview.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Mudano (London, England (UK)) in October 2018.
Interview
After chatting to the recruiter, I had a phone interview with an information designer at Mudano. It was fairly informal, but I think he already liked my work. I was then given an assignment to produce a narrative and visualisation from a data set, which I presented at my first face-to-face interview with the same designer and a delivery manager. I was then invited to meet one of the founders for my final interview a week later.

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Mudano (Edinburgh, Scotland (UK)) in March 2018.
Interview
Thorough interview process, talking with a range of people across the business. Initial phone screen, followed by discussion of an implementation exercise, and final chat about the business itself. The technical task was suitably challenging and the broader aims and culture of the company were well communicated.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Mudano (London, England (UK)) in April 2017.
Interview
Good initial phone interview with a project manager. The 1-1 was with only with someone technical at a hotel. No structure in the interview - I had to ask for specifics as questions were very vague & not much about project management. Interviewer cared more to brag about his knowledge than actually conduct the interview - he talked about hypothetical projects with 200 engineers that he has worked on before... while Mudano is a startup with less than 30 people in total. Came across as just too elitist. Chose not to move forward after this.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Mudano (Edinburgh, Scotland (UK)).
Interview
- Informal Chat with Recruiter. This was a chance to chat about the company for both you and the recruiter to gauge if it seems like both you would be a good fit for Mudano and if Mudano is a fit for you.
- Telephone interview based around CV and previous experience. The interviewer has a copy of you CV and asks about previous experience, a good chance to highlight key achievements and back up your strengths and skills but also talking about difficult situations and how you overcame them.
- Assignment with senior delivery manager and co-founder. Presentation on a topic of you choice from a selection sent to you prior to the interview, followed by around 30 mins Q&A. This was the toughest part of the process but also the best part for ensuring Mudano is a fit for you as you meet members of the team and can ask detailed questions around the culture, company's vision and strategy.

Interview
The first step was a telephone interview with one of the designers in the creative team, which was just a general chat about the role and the type of design work that Mudano do for clients and internal work they do. I actually requested this stage as I thought it made sense to talk to someone at the company first rather than just doing a design task straight away.
The second stage was a design task. The task was designing a powerpoint presentation using the Mudano brand ppt template and assets. In my opinion the task was fairly straight forward and didn't take too much time to do.
The third stage was meeting two of the designers in the creative team. This Interview was quite in-depth and was mainly talking about my portfolio and the design task. You'll be asked to talk through the design task and share your thought process.
The final interview was meeting with one of the co-founders of the company. This interview was fairly relaxed and was mainly talking about how i'd fit in at Mudano and talking about Mudano's vision. I did go through my portfolio briefly but this was already covered in the previous interview.
As a whole, the interview process went really smooth and I was contacted pretty much straight away if i got through to the next stage or not. Only thing I would advise is having a face to face interview at the beginning as its nice to get a feel from the start, what the team you'll be working with is like.

Interview
The interview went well, there was a very relaxed engaging atmosphere, I felt like the two interviewers were trying to get to know me through a conversation rather than a series of questions meant to destabilise me.
Very enjoyable!

Mudano Response
11 Apr 2018 – Recruitment Manager
Thanks for your review. I’m sorry that you had this experience with Mudano, and certainly believe it’s not representative of our process. Indeed, there may have been some confusion here. We have not been recruiting for interns directly. We are working with a university partner on some summer placements this year so I assume this is the role you are referring to. For these placements, we actually follow the universities recruitment process, and only have access to some of the data and are only involved in subsets of the process. As such we would be very interested to understand more about your experience to make sure we can iron out any issues between us and the university to ensure no one else encounters similar issues in the future. We would really appreciate if you would drop us an email on jobs@mudano.com with some details so we can determine what went wrong in your case.
Again, apologies your interview experience wasn’t to the standards we hold ourselves. If you can help us out I hope we can address this for future summer placement candidates.... MoreLess
