The process took 1 day. I interviewed at NEXT (London, England) in Jun 2018
Interview
It was really quite informal. When I arrived, I was first taken to the back room and waited there a bit as I did arrive early. I was then asked a few questions about what I was doing at the moment and what my availability is like. I was asked to go onto the shop floor and talk to customers asking them if they required any help (many of the staff members told me before that I should really demonstrate this). NEXT really value customer service so you need to show that you can do this. I did this for an hour and was taught how to search for items in stock on the till. After this, I was taken into the backroom again and asked about my availability where I found out I was being offered a position.
Some normal competency questions around experience, education and situational tasks. then spent a little time on the floor to practice interacting with customers and staff. Then we reviewed after and got offered the job.
quite a casual interview and made sure to make me feel at ease. in my case, me and other candidates were all waiting in one room waiting to be called for individual interviews
I was invited to the store and given a briefing and a quick chat. I was then asked to carried out a few tasks for about half an hour to learn what I could be doing and also to see how I would work in the store. I was also offered a £10 voucher for attending the interview.
