      Average interview

      Application

I interviewed at New York Life

      Interview

Super simple with basic questions about your behaviour. Just use the STAR method. Got to the first interview and the second interview is later, but I think it should be relatively simple as well.

      Question 1

Do you have an financial experience/ Tell me about the economy.
      Answer question
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

      Interview

Recruiter did not show up to the interview and did not provide a reason for not showing up. The interview was scheduled for a certain date and time and was rescheduled after he did not show up for the first time. However, he also did not show up for the rescheduled meeting and never gave me a reason why.

      MBA Management Fast Track Interview

      30 Nov 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at New York Life in Oct 2018

      Interview

I applied online. The next day I received a phone call to come in for an in-person interview the following week. Looking back, this should have been a red flag as almost all companies do a phone interview first. Their approach is to pull you in, create a friendly atmosphere, talk about how great the company is, and sucker you in to accepting a position that you did not apply for. Everyone was friendly at the location and the branch manager was especially nice. However, the job position of "MBA Management Fast Track" is just a way for them to recruit educated individuals with fake promises of a management position. The MBA fast track is the same sales/agent position that they offer to everyone. Everything in the job posting was false. The job posting stated you would become a “managing partner” after you finished training, would have a salary of $72K (for my area), and the opportunity to complete the series 6 and 7. In reality, it is an agent position that starts out at $36K, where if you do well, you can potentially become a managing partner after 3-5 years and be given the opportunity to take the series 6/7 somewhere in that time frame. After the interview portion, the branch manager showed me the numbers of what others make, how easy they think it is to recruit millennials, and how great the company is to work for. At the end, I completed a personality assessment that showed how well I would do at sales, etc. Branch manager offered me the position, I declined. This position is no different from the other agent positions that are being offered by the company. It is simply a false, recruiting tool to get people in the door and sale them a regular agent, non-management position.
