I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at New York Life (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2017
Interview
They take you through a series of interviews, 4 in total. I only did the first one which was just to get to know you and for them to familiarize you with New York Life and the position you are applying for. They were friendly and welcoming. However, they should be more upfront about the fact that you are purely compensated by commission (i.e. no base salary). Because of that I chose not to continue.
Pretty simple with the recruiter, but their application process was poorly structured. It asked me about the 2 week gap period between my summer internship and starting college and what I was doing prior to that, apparently being a child was not really the correct response.
I had three interviews but all went smoothly. But be sure to have questions ready. They really want someone who is a go getter and determined to make it in this business.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at New York Life (Manchester, NH) in May 2024
Interview
It was fairly smooth first interview was mainly about me and qualifications. Second one was essentially a crash course on the position it was a little vague on the beginning being selling mostly insurance though.
