I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Nucor in Apr 2022
Interview
In person interview at manufacturing site following submittal of online application. I spoke with three members of the team, one of which would be my supervisor. Was given a short tour following the interview and was invited to stay for lunch that was provided by the interviewer. Did not receive any correspondence following and found out I did not get the position via automated message.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Nucor in Sept 2021
Interview
A recruiter reached out to me about this position. I originally told the recruiter my salary requirements and he said that it would not be an issue. Got to the last stage of the interview (wanted to fly me to Chicago) and they said what I wanted in terms of salary would not be possible as it was not within the range. After they said that, I had a mini talk with the hiring manager regarding the pay via phone. The hiring manager said I was "unprofessional" for "demanding" the salary I wanted. I never "demanding anything. In a follow up email prior to the talk with the hiring manager I said I was disappointed and would still continue through with the interview process and would consider any offer given to me. She called me unprofessional because I said the cost of living in Chicago was 40% higher than where I currently live and I'd have two locations and "didn't have to live in Chicago". I immediately decided to forgo the remainder of the interview as I did not want to work for that hiring manager. Interview process overall was extremely easy. All the interview questions were basically personality questions to see how you would deal with different situations.
