      Sr. Sales Enablement Manager Interview

      24 Jul 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Bellevue, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at OfferUp (Bellevue, WA)

      Interview

They had me do a 10-step process which spanned nearly 10 hours of my time during the work week, and they confirmed their hiring team decided to move 6 different people through the process all the way to the final round. This resulted in 5 angry people when they made their hiring decision considering how demanding their process was. The recruiter called me to say "the team debriefed...and they passed" that's all they said. "The team debriefed on you, and, they passed" ...this came a few days after the final round, after a 10-step process where I provided work samples to 6 different people at the company, and was told I was a competitive candidate with absolutely zero concerns about my background expressed throughout the process from beginning to end. This hiring team cannot make up their minds, instead they waste candidates' precious work week hours just to have bountiful options in their process, and then give a "yeah so the team passed on you" phone call after a 10-step process. The recruiter needs to learn to be more professional than casual, have better timeliness/punctuality and should never EVER call a candidate who just finished a demanding 10-step process with the message "yeah so hey, the team debriefed, and they passed on you" ... seriously? You are a full-time, 'professional' recruiter and that's all you have to say? The wrong people showed up to my interviews based on the provided schedule, which was a mistake/oversight by recruiting, and multiple interviewers were significantly late to the interviews. It may sound unbelievable to not get a thank you from the recruiter after such an arduous process, until you remember this company is a startup that laid off 20% of their workforce a couple years ago and continues hiring very inexperienced people to this day. Highly recommend staying far away from OfferUp for any interview process that consists of 5 steps or more, but stay far, far away from a 10-step process because they will take so much of your precious time only to loop you in with 5-6 other candidates and then reject you with a phone call saying "they passed on you" WITHOUT a thank you. Never heard a single thank you from the recruiter, only the hiring team for all the work samples I provided. 0/10 would not recommend interviewing with OfferUp to anyone, unless you enjoy having your time wasted after a long/drawn out process, only to receive a phone call that "they passed on you" without a thank you. No thanks right back at you OfferUp. No thanks from me, and good riddance. P.S. your product sucks, nobody likes your app design, everyone hates your aggressive in-app advertisements that make it run like garbage, everyone hates your notifications that push ads in our faces, none of your users have passion for your brand, and nobody will ever consider OfferUp better than superior competitors like eBay, Mercari, etc. in a million years, it simply will not happen. TL;DR - Arduous hiring process, not a single thank you for all the time spent interviewing for 10 hours plus work samples, and a very unattractive brand to be working for. You have been warned.
