I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Paycom in Aug 2023
Interview
This job is for you if you are metric driven, don't mind being micro-managed, want to be in person 5 days a week, and value money above everything. Hiring manager admitted to me that they work 55 hours a week, it's a "sink or swim" environment, and by the end of the week they are "brain-dead". I could tell based on the questions I was asked during the interview process that their main priority is learning if I value money and winning above everything, because otherwise the sacrifices you have to make won't feel worth it, I'm assuming. All managers are promoted internally, so I made sure to ask what other characteristics are valued in a manager other than being a good sales person. I was told being good at sales is a #1 characteristic they look for and reward, which is a red flag to me (being good at sales does not mean you're good at managing people). I also asked how they motivate their team and was given the cliché sales answer, "it's not my job to motivate you." I think the compensation potential is worth it if the above doesn't phase you. But if you're like myself and looking to avoid toxic management, value work-life balance, and value quality outreach vs. quantity, then this job might not be for you.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Do you love winning or hate losing more? Would you rather be #1 on your sales team and recognized nationally or be #3 and make more money? (this question didn't make sense to me, how could you be #3 and make more money than #1?).

Long process and have to set meetings in front of a manager on the phone. They have you come into the office and make cold calls without knowing the product at all.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Paycom (Washington, DC) in Jul 2024
Interview
Strung me along through the interview process only to say they were going with someone else after basically telling me I had the job. Then heard that they were starting the interview process with someone I knew indicating they were not going with someone else.

Interview was easy but something didn’t feel right so I declined the offer. They seemed to salesy to me, almost like trying to get me to accept on the dot.
