      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      19 Oct 2020
      Anonymous employee
      Draper, UT
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Pluralsight (Draper, UT) in Sept 2020

      Interview

The interview process was very smooth, especially considering that everything had to be remote due to covid. Had a phone call with a recruiter, had a basic engineering call with two engineers, and then had a more in-depth coding exercise with two different engineers, followed a very intriguing Values discussion with a manager. Guys, this company has amazing Values, and not only that but it is _very_ clear that they really follow those values, not just say they do. Very impressive and I love that they are a big part of the interviewing process. The coding exercise was very comfortable as well and seemed perfect for my level and experience, as it should be. Well done!

      Interview

Pathetic interview process. PluralSight is in really bad shape as of now. The HR who processed my profile got laid off during the interview process. The interview process was pretty straightforward. First introductory call with the HR and then two technical rounds. If you clear both the rounds then you will have a final hiring manager round. I cleared the two technical rounds and then the HR got fired. He before getting fired, scheduled the third round with the hiring manager for 45mins. During the third round, the hiring manager didn't ask any significant questions. He only asked me to introduce myself and gave his introduction. And then asked why did you switch from your previous companies. I gave the answers and the reasons. He was totally dull during the round and was talking as if he couldn't sleep from past 2days. After all this the round got completed in just 20mins. No other questions were asked. And then abruptly he said, I am done from my side.... HR will get back you. I didn't receive any feedback for days and then I called the HR, only to know that he himself has been fired. He gave me a number of his colleague and asked me to talk to him. I contacted the colleague but he said that he is not having any clear feedback from the hiring manager but it is a NO. I told him about the round and he agreed that it is weird that how come in just 2 introductory questions and in 20mins the round was completed. He even told that my feedback from the previous two rounds was positive and team was happy with my skills and knowledge. He told that he will get the clear feedback and get in touch with the hiring manager, as the hiring manager went on leave for a week and is not well. And after more than 20days, I don't have the clear feedback. To be honest it felt as if the hiring manager already had shortlisted someone but since I had cleared the rounds he was forced to take the interview. Pathetic process and unprofessional experience overall.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We want to apologize for the lack of follow-through and clarity you received during your interview process. You invested time and effort in getting to know Pluralsight and we should have delivered a better experience for you throughout that.We strive to deliver a consistent and high-quality process for all candidates, and in this case, we fell short. We understand that the staffing changes we made were disruptive to your experience and we’re working to improve our processes to ensure better continuity and clearer communication moving forward. It’s also disappointing to hear about your interview experience with the hiring manager as it didn’t reflect the engagement or depth that we expect. I will personally follow-up with the team to better understand what happened and how we can prevent similar experiences in the future. Thank you again for your input, and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors. - Dani Foust (Director of Talent Acquisition)

      18 Sept 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Bengaluru

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Pluralsight (Bengaluru) in Aug 2023

      Interview

The interview process was smooth, interviewers were polite and professional. Had 3 rounds in total , cleared all the rounds and also got good feedback from the panels. Even the compensation discussion was done. However, after all this the HR ghosted me for more than a week and later informed me that the position got closed due to infrastructure changes in the organisation, which I never expected from a company like Pluralsight. Felt bad as I was excited to be part of pluralsight. I would suggest the HR team to make sure this doesn't happen to any other individuals going forward as they might have high hopes and have other commitments based on this offer. Also please don't ghost them and inform directly the result whether it's positive or negative so that they can plan accordingly.
