Frustrating at the end. First happened a telephonic round by a project member which went quite well and I was told I look like a person who could fit well. Then a week later the in person interview happened. Must say here that this QA role is not supposed to have much automation - or as I was told before interviews. Then the in person interview went on for more than an hour - use case and situation based and few technical questions and just one question on automation as to what’s my experience on it. And I responded that I have theoretical knowledge and have planned for regression through automation but would need some brushing if I have to do hands on. I was told it’s not mandatory for this role. Then 3 days later I was informed I am not the right fit as they want one with much automation exposure!!! I spent so much time and knowing myself I aced it if it were not to be for automation role. And there was no such expectation or no indication in interview itself. I believe they need to know better as to what they need as part of QA for the project they need resources for and come up with a better plan.
