      Corporate Marketing Manager Interview

      1 Mar 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Quest Diagnostics in Feb 2022

      Interview

I had nine interviews, which is a lot comparatively speaking. However, I didn’t mind them. The people I spoke with were great, diverse, smart, and warm. I interviewed for a new role and a new business. I was first contacted by an internal recruiter, and the process started off well. After my interviews, about two months into the process, I was told I would have an offer in 48 hours. I was asked to send all of my benefits information and salary information from my previous company (actual documents of proof). I’ve never been asked this before, and the process felt invasive and certainly wasn’t secure. I did send it in preparation of getting an offer. I had another offer from another company in hand, but I was less excited about it, so I made the mistake of declining it thinking an offer from Quest was coming. I was then told there is some reshuffling in this division and due to the holiday, they couldn’t get back to me in a short period of time. They told me they would get back to me on X date, seven times. Each time I followed up the day after that date, I was told they are still in planning. It was multiple months of follow ups and reassurances that they are still interested in my candidacy. After 5 months I was told the position had been eliminated. I understand business change, but I found the recruiting process to be cumbersome on behalf of the candidate and the company. It was an incredible waste of resources. It’s interesting that most companies I’ve interviewed with aren’t using an applicant status/automated tracking system. If I add up all of the hours wasted, my experience alone could pay for basic software. I’ve since had the entire process (first contact to offers) happen in 2 weeks and more typically less than 2 months. While the interview process and business can be mutually exclusive, this was a major red flag for how things get done in the company.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Basic behavioral questions, why I wanted to work there. Nothing about the industry, nothing tricky.
