      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at REI (Kent, WA) in Jan 2019

      Interview

Started with a quick phone interview with the recruiter, and was asked to send over my availability for an onsite interview. Questions were the usual for an admin position, and I met with 3 people total - the recruiter who showed me around campus, and the EA and one of the Directors for the group. The interview itself was pretty easy, and everyone was friendly enough. However, after that there was no follow up. I emailed the recruiter a week later and heard nothing. Emailed one more time after another week and was completely ghosted. About a month and a half later another position popped up so I figured I'd submit my name again. Got a call back almost immediately to schedule an onsite. With the same recruiter who ghosted me before. I went with it, and scheduled it and when I got there she acted like nothing had happened before. The next interviews with the team were ok... same general questions, but the last interview with the EA of the group was not great. Basically spent the entire time talking about how she was a not the easiest to get along with and she expected perfection at all times. The others I interviewed with were the complete opposite and completely nice and welcoming. Unsurprisingly, I was ghosted AGAIN. While I love REI and what they stand for, the recruiters could really use some training. If I'm expected to take time off from my job to spend a few hours interviewing, the least they could do was let you know they aren't moving on with you as a candidate. Even a simple rejection email would be better than wondering what's going on.

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at REI (Kent, WA) in Feb 2016

      Interview

I applied online and within approximately 4 weeks I was called by a recruiter for an initial phone screening. The HR representative (Azizah) was friendly and was interested in what I wanted out of my career with REI in addition to reviewing my qualifications. Following the initial phone screen I had another phone screen with the hiring manager and then two members of the team in a panel interview/phone call. I was asked to come in for an interview, received a campus tour and then met with the hiring team and manager in a set of 30 minute interviews that took roughly 2 hours. The following day I was given an offer and accepted the position. REI is the first company that I have worked for where I truly believe that my career goals, and value to the company have been recognized. If you're looking for a company with great benefits, that values a work-hard, play-hard attitude, look no further!
