      Business Development Associate Interview

      16 Apr 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Revolut (London, England) in Apr 2019

      Interview

They first reached out to me to schedule a "call" which later turned out to be a video conference- the communications were misleading in this regard. The video conference itself actually made me feel like I would not work for Revolut in any case. The interviewer was rude, looked bored and uninterested. He did not look into the camera or even onto his screen when talking to me. He sat in some really noisy cafe and the interview was constantly filled with noise of moving glasses, yet few times he claimed he cannot hear me and seemed to blame me for that fact, even though I was sitting on my own in a quiet room at home. The interview was challenging but interesting. The interviewer only got a bit more engaging when I asked him about his job- he really loved talking about himself. I got a message that I passed to the next stage the next day. They sent me a challenge assessment, which turned out to be some KYC-related data analysis exercise, requiring me to provide root causes for customer not passing the two-factor authentication and propose solutions, all in a format of a powerpoint presentation. The data spreadsheets were super technical, and the explanation of the data points was offered via an API key. To read and understand this key, one needs to have a very good understanding of coding, but the advertisement for this position does not list this skill as a requisite. Also, the exercise encourages to create your own code or use sophisticated data transfer Excel skills and knowledge, again skills not required for that position. I do not understand why they require candidates to complete a test for skills that are not being required for that particular job. I think Revolut should either change its advertisements or re-think their testing strategy because they will loose a lot of experienced professionals that way.
