      Disputes Paralegal Interview

      30 Apr 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Revolut (London, England) in Apr 2021

      Interview

Negative experience, aligned with most negative interview experiences shared on Glassdoor. I applied online in January 2021 and went through 4 stages over the course of 4 months. The last interview took place on 1 April 2021. Although it started well, the process got worse by the time I finished my final stage interview. 1st stage - short 1:1 with the recruiter regarding my profile and suitability for the role 2nd stage - home task - drafting exercise on a real case which took approximately 4 days to complete with at least 4 hours input daily. 3rd stage - interview with 2x managers from the legal team I would be joining. This was a standard interview and overall I enjoyed it. 4th stage - this is the stage where I started to ask myself if I really wanted to join this company. I was told by the recruiter what to prepare and that it would be a 45 min interview based on a case-solver model. Due to some changes, I was allocated a different interviewer (founder associate) who did not seem to want to be in that interview. He did not turn his camera on although we were having a 1:1 interview and mine was on, did not follow the structure I was told by the recruiter and ended the interview 20 min earlier. He did not provide me with an explanation on why his camera was turned off. I felt this showed a lack of engagement, enthusiasm and disrespect. I have previously read on reviews here that this happened before and chances are it might even be the same person. Regardless, if I am expected to show enthusiasm as a candidate, so should the prospective employer - after all, it is a two-way street. I was then advised that a decision will be communicated to me "early next week" and once the next week has passed I emailed the recruiter chasing an update. That email was never replied to and another week later I sent another email to the recruiter kindly asking for a response. That was not replied to either and 3 weeks after my interview, I got a rather standard email informing me another candidate scored better on the final stage interview. At this stage, based on my most recent experience with Revolut, I had already made my mind not to pursue this work opportunity. I must say that I have been slightly disappointed by some aspects during Revolut’s recruitment process. I would have expected to get some tailored feedback over a short telephone conversation. I believe this would have been more appropriate given that I have allocated significant time towards the 4 different stages since I made my application throughout the 4 months period. Furthermore, the lack of response by way of an update for 3 weeks has made me realise that I would not like to join an environment where such behaviours are promoted and accepted. I have definitely learnt from the experience and based on all the reviews here, I am content that things turned out this way, as I have now secured a role where I feel valued and respected. My advice for anyone applying for a role with Revolut is - take the time to read all the reviews here, as they speak volumes about the environment and people you are about to spend a big portion of your days with. Surely there are many professionals with strong ethics at Revolut, unfortunately, I can only comment on my experience which was not great.
