There were 3 parts to the assessment centre. A general interview about you, your experiences and why you wanted the role. A technical interview, asking engineering specific questions and a group interview, where you were given a task to complete as a group.
I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Rolls-Royce (Derby, England) in Dec 2019
Interview
Applied online. Took online tests which are difficult, as you have 6 minutes to answer 18 questions (numerical). Followed by that I was invited to the assessment centre at Derby.
The assessment centre is quite long. Starts at 9 am with a 1 on 1 competency interview for about an hour. This is followed by the challenging TECHNICAL interview. They really test your engineering knowledge and mainly your jet engine knowledge. I know many candidates were taken aback by the questions. Lastly is a group exercise that focuses on solving a problem. Overall, a great experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me how a jet engine works. Explain what Fourier's series intends to do.
I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Rolls-Royce in Feb 2021
Interview
2 process: day 1 = networking session, day 2 = 5 interviews - motivational, behavioural, case study, 2 presentations
It was hard but the interviewers were very friendly and they had get to know you sessions with the other candidates whilst you waited to be interviewed.
