A few recruiter calls with an external recruiter and an external account manager followed by HM round with coding challenges and principal engineer round also with coding challenges for this remote role. Everything seemed to go well, and there was excitement about my joining. Then I was told that they were looking at budget to get a position moved from one org to another, and they needed to get approvals. As many weeks unfolded, then it got escalated to leadership. Finally, they decided to make the role 100% onsite. Why did they even interview for the role, especially if it didn't even have budget? It seemed like they were just trying to check the market for interest in the role and then decided to make it 100% onsite. This was a horrible candidate experience and a waste of many calls, including a waste of time by the external recruiting agency. For a company as established as this one, they should be doing a lot better. Avoid.
