      Sales Associate Interview

      15 Mar 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Fairfield, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Ross Stores (Fairfield, CA)

      Interview

I applied online and got a phone call to set up an interview. For whatever reason I did not realize I had been called until a week later, and was pretty sure they'd want nothing to do with me if I called back. I tried anyway, and set up the interview. The hiring manager was very friendly on the phone, I liked her. Nobody was mad at me for my slow response and it wasn't brought up, but you probably shouldn't do that. Not my finest hour. Or week. When I arrived in store, I asked a cashier where I should go, and was told I could sit by the door while they phoned the manager. She eventually came out, same lady from the phone, and power-walked me to a back room. The interview was friendly. I felt a little awkward because the chair I was offered to sit on had someone else's jacket draped over the back and there were other employees in the room. I think it was maybe a break area. I was asked about my skills and experience, nothing weird or difficult. At the end I asked what traits it takes to be a good fit at Ross, and the interviewer said, "Did you notice how fast I was walking when we came in here? You have to be that fast all the time." It was a pretty fast scoot, but doable. I felt very confident that the interview went well, but in the end I was not offered the job. The interview was so friendly that I didn't feel agonized over what went wrong, so that's one thing I really appreciated.
