THIS IS LONG BUT OVERALL: AWFUL GROSS ENVIRONMENT, BLAH PEOPLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL HR. I was recommended to the campus recruiter by a connection in the NYC fashion industry. The recruiter reached out and set up a 30 min interview phone call, I'm assuming because my resume and skills fit perfectly for the role and my experience was in a high end multi billion dollar company. We had a nice short interview and I felt very comfortable and she then said they wanted to fly me up to meet with 4 Ross Associates, paying for flight and transportation costs, so I thought "why not?". Honestly Ross was not on the top of my list of companies I wanted to work for but I said I might as well go.... THE OFFICE IS DISGUISTING. I would say its the ugliest, oldest, smelliest, out of date, trash laying around, nasty office or place in general I've ever been. I can not believe they let people work there. The lights barely work, its ok tho bc all the walls are white and bland, might as well work in a prison cell - probs more modern lol. I literally could not even shut the bathroom stall doors bc they were all broken. They shouldn't even send people for interviews, bc I knew I immediately wouldn't work in that environment. However, they do have decent pay and great benefits, I'm assuming thats why they have 800+ buyers? I personally couldn't work in that awful environment with destroyed furniture and sad environment. They have floors and floors of the same white and gray maze of cubicles and even the VPs I interviewed with had no decor or life or color in their offices. Besides that, the one hr lady that I met with (who I never spoke to before) literally couldn't care less about her job. She talked to me for maybe 5 minutes when it was supposed to be 45 minutes and I know it wasn't because of me.... she asked irrelevant questions and pretended to write notes, when I looks it was legit scribble on the paper....she wanted to waste time then sat me in an empty room to wait for 40 minutes for my next interview. She did not care about her job or appearance or how she made me feel as a potential employee. Only one person I met with seemed nice and normal, the others were weird/socially awkward, etc. Thats a personal opinion but I have experience in other great companies that people are excited about their work and creative and fun... not at Ross. Clock in and clock out in a prison environment is the vibe I got, but hey apparently they are doing great. Guess they would rather put money into the employees than environment or amenities so just be aware, perhaps you will like that! Anyways, I sent thank you emails etc., never got any info or contacted for 2 weeks when they said they would inform us within 5 days. So I finally emailed the two HR ladies I liked and dealt with asking for an update, they said " in a couple days, etc." Then an hour later I get an email from the awful HR girl I met with at Ross, and she said " Hi can you call me". No name, no number, no info who the person even was, I literally had to do detective work to figure it out..... So i ask for her number, get it, call - no answer. Get called an hour later back and she goes " we went with another candidate, will keep your info bye." I literally could barely understand what she said. So unprofessional and not a good experience, also I'm more than qualified for the job and know I did well in the interviews (besides awful HR girl). Their loss, but be aware of unprofessionalism and disgusting environment.
