Interview
I applied through LinkedIn and got an email from the recruiter for initial screening. The call went well and the recruiter told me to look for an email. I never heard from the recruiter again. I followed up multiple times but did not get a reply. I liked the position a lot so I reached out to another recruiter over linkedin. The new recruiter replied and said he will follow up with the recruiter who had contacted me. The new recruiter was very helpful and got back to me saying that the hiring manager wasn't interested to move ahead. I wonder, is it so difficult to type one line of email over multiple follow ups from the candidate and let the candidate know rather than ghosting. Terrible experience with the first recruiter.

Interview
I had two successful interviews, one on technical and one on programming questions, but then they made a strange request for me to do a 3 hour on the spot data science hackathon while being observed by their junior d sc employee and a manager. I dont appreciate such requests to be observed by being looked over the shoulder in an interview before I am fully employed and being compensated for training a green employee of theirs, so I suggested I can do that d. sc. contest off-line in the same time amount and return the contest by email. I never heard from them again. This UK based company has interviewing practices that US companies would not observe, as I feel it thinks that a prospective interviewer can be subjected to any kind of abuse or demand work from the interview simply in hope of getting a job with them. In other places, such work would be a consulting assignment being paid for that many hours of data science work.
