Interview Process seemed normal. I made it to the final round. Spent many hours on a take home case study. The recruiter called me to talk about compensation and told me I was the "top candidate" but after the final round they decided not to move forward because the company
1. Had to re assess their data science needs. They claimed they needed more data analytics support and didn't have an immediate need for a data scientist. (Which is also what I do they would've known if they screened me properly)
2. They had concerns that I would not succeed in a dynamic environment. (They made a huge assumption here because they never asked me questions in regards to this.)
Overall not a good experience. It is very clear to me that they treat candidates like they are disposable. After making it to a final round its standard to receive a phone call even if it is a rejection. An email after all that effort clearly lacks major professionalism.
I also only talked to men throughout the recruiting process which was a clear indicator that this company does not promote diversity. Also saw from other glassdoor reviews where some employees felt like this company operates like a boys club.
Companies need to make these assessments before they ask candidates to invest their time in a interview process. It is also very misleading/unprofessional to call a candidate with misleading information.
Overall I would not recommend they're clearly confused and are not as efficient as they claim to be. They made me go through an entire interview process, gave me false information about a potential offer and made a lot of assumptions about what environments I would "thrive" in without asking me. I hope no one candidate faces this experience.
