      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Shipt

      Interview

Applied online and within a week the recruiter reached out to me to schedule a phone interview. I scheduled a phone interview making some time out of schedule and the recruiter got back to me 30 minutes before the call saying the position is not available in San Francisco anymore

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Shipt (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

The in-house recruiter abruptly cancelled my phone interview with them less than an hour before it was set to begin. This call was scheduled more than a week in advance. The recruiter stated that the job was no longer available and that the decision was made this week. (Our interview was set for Friday). While preparing for the call the night before, I found a Glassdoor review (<https://www.glassdoor.com/Interview/Shipt-Interview-RVW32339828.htm>) by someone who had applied to the same position, at the same Shipt office, describe how their interview was also cancelled by Shipt's recruitment staff at the last minute. The reason given for the cancellation was identical. Since Shipt appears to have filled the position since at least the day before our scheduled call, why wait until the last minute to cancel the interview? The recruiter stated that due to the volume of job applicants they receive, they're unsure who's finally scheduled to speak with them until the day of the call. I find this explanation hard to believe, especially given their use of a web scheduling system which was used to coordinate the ideal interview time. I thought to reply directly to the recruiter to tell them that they might want to reevaluate this system, and the manner in which they communicate with candidates, but then I figured, better let them (and potential future job applicants) read about it all here. I don't want to work for a firm which treats its candidates in such a callous way. Neither should you.
