I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Staples (San Diego, CA) in Jun 2017
Interview
Received a LinkedIn message from SBA recruiter:
1.) Screened by local recruiter (1-hour): Technical questions about your past roles, responsibilities, quotas, how you manage your book of business, and daily activities.
2.) In person interview with Area Sales Manager (1+ hours): Questions about your past compensation, past revenue and margins questions, a time where you struggled and how you overcame your challenge. More in-depth information about the job.
3.) Phone interview with another ASM in a different location (1+ hours): A lot of questions about previous work history dealing with goals and numbers and how it will transition and be relevant to assist with your success with the role at staples.
4.) Field day with B2B Sales Representative (2 hours): Very casual. They're seeing if you have the right hustler mentality and if you'd fit in with the culture.
5.) In person interview with Regional Manager and local ASM (1 hour): Presentation about yourself. Questions about why they might have reservations about hiring you, why you're looking for a new job, why did you bounce around certain companies. Detail questions about your resume.
If you got the job, you'll hear back from your local recruiter within the next day explaining all your benefits and when you can start. The the ASM will give you a congratulations call and lay out expectations the first day.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Staples (Providence, RI) in Jan 2022
Interview
It was a 2-step interview process. I had my first interview with the recruiter that reached out to me and then my next interview was with the direct manager. It was a smooth process probably because I was referred by an employee.

Question 1
What experience in sales do I have? Do I have experience with cold calling? Am I comfortable with commuting to the main office? etc.
It was a long process, had a total of 5 interviews for the outside b2b Sales position. 3 phone 2 in person. They want to get to know you and make sure you are a good fit as the job requires you to be very self motivated
