      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at State Farm (Tempe, AZ) in Sept 2014

      Interview

This was one of the worst time consuming hiring processes that I have come across so far in my search for employment. The application online took over 1 hr to complete. After that they sent me 2 assessments that I needed to take, the first one took 30 minutes and the second one took 12 min. The recruiter actually lost one of the assessments and requested that I take it again. The link for the assessment did not work because I had already taken it and I had to spend an additional 4 hours going back and forth with the 3rd party company that does the assessments to find out what happened and it turned out it was the recruiters fault. After all of that problem solving (a skill I would think this company would find useful as well as the initiative I took to find the solution to the problem) I had to wait an additional week to be scheduled for a phone interview. I studied, and I mean studied for this interview because I really, truly felt that I would be an asset to State Farm and was actually qualified for the position. When the phone interview happened I was prepared and confident. I was asked a few questions that really did not pertain to me such as "describe a time when you could not finish a task given to you and how did you handle this". I really honestly have not really had that problem. I am diligent about getting my work finished, OCD about it in fact. When I told the recruiter this she pretty much told me to think harder. She really drilled me on any spaces in my employment. I am in my twenties and do have gaps for schooling and for looking for better employment opportunities. She sounded disgusted almost that I had any gaps in employment at all, in fact I feel I was drilled the hardest on this verses my actual qualifications for employment. The phone interview in general was very grueling and the most difficult I have ever had. At the end of the interview she asked me if I had any questions. My question was if the company offered any heath benefits since that is the main reason for me leaving prior jobs and it is now required to have it. She gushed for about 15 minutes (keep in mind this was only a 30 minute interview) about how wonderful the benefits and company were and how she had been with the company for 34 years! I feel that totally explained her attitude of disapproval with my employment gaps since she really has not had to look for anything in 34 years. I mainly applied for State Farm because they have recruiters on CareerBuilder.com and Monster.com that scour the resume section and invite anyone who is qualified to apply. I was honestly sick of being harassed by the recruiters via email but also wanted a long term position in a company that was well known. I feel it was wrong to have someone who has not had to look for a job in 34 years be the person who determines if you even get a face to face interview. I will not waste my time applying again.

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at State Farm (London, England) in Aug 2022

      Interview

It's was not bad, more easier than I thought, I suggest that the options to the questions should be stated there just as it was in the sample test. Like some questions that have two correct answers,I never knew that you can click two boxes. It's really bad to discover when you are almost done.

I applied through other source. I interviewed at State Farm in Sept 2015

It was a pretty standard interview. Went into the office and answered a few questions, shook hands, and went home. The business owner was very straight forward and no nonsense.
