Anonymous Interview Candidate in Leeds, England
I interviewed at TPP (Leeds, England)
Had to travel to Birmingham initially to do an aptitude test for the first stage. Test wasn't too difficult, but could have been done online. After this, I was invited for an interview in Leeds. It was nice that they reimbursed you for your travel costs. I travelled 2 hours to get there and 2 hours back. I arrived early but the interviewee was late for my interview. The interview really was just an informal chat asking me about parts of my CV, but no typical "interview questions" such as "tell me a time when...". This chat lasted about 15 minutes and I was told that they would pass my CV back to the recruiters and I would be invited to a second interview if successful. The interviewee didn't even take any notes down during this first interview, so I'm not sure the recruiters would have received any extra information with my CV. I feel like this interview was kind of pointless. Got me excited for no reason. The interviewee was nice and so was the building, but just very pointless. I didn't get invited to a second interview, which I assume would have been a more necessary interview, so I don't understand why they don't just do that! Not a terrible experience, more just pointless. I didn't even learn much about being in an interview for future interviews because it was literally just a chat.
- They just asked basic questions about my CV and what I was doing at that time. Maybe asked me one question about why I wanted to work for TPP.

Neutral? The company asks people to take offline exams first, including math, logic, and language questions. But the location is a little bit far away. The company is in Leeds. It is said that they would give the transportation fee.

Actual elitist type of hiring process whist considering the bad reputation, it’s not worth it after all. Not mentioning much and just a trip to Leeds for free I guess.
- Talk through final year project, asking relevant experience. Logic and reasoning is essentially like easy brain teasers.

Intial test (which I passed) then an interview where I wasn't provided with any feedback, the questions were fairly standard but I answered the logic questions correctly and never found out what I did wrong.

Very pleasant interview, just a 1-1 conversation. I was reimbursed for travel, unseen question was similar to the ones in the initial assessment but can easily catch you out. Would happily apply there again in the future.
- What do you see as a major challenge with building a software such as TPP builds?

A mental ability test that only tests speeds and pressure, no actual skills were tested. It was an average test, taken multiple times a day. A basic filter for candidates but has bad basis.

There was a basic test that had questions of average difficult, The main problem with this part is completing the questions within the time limit. The style just generally uses find the pattern questions.
- General find the pattern questions.

The interview was very quick and not particularly thorough, I do not believe they read my CV as they did not ask about any previous experiences mentioned on the CV.
- Why did you apply for this job

The first stage is a written test. For software developer, it's the logistics and reasoning test. The verbal reasoning part is not like the SHL. It's more like puzzles (adding letters to make words).
- Find a 2 letter word to add before the following words to make a new word.

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at TPP (Horsforth, England) in Mar 2024
- Did my logic and reasoning test in Newcastle, got an email soon after asking for my CV - Got a call to arrange an interview, was not given any information - Had a first interview with Olivia who is shown on their profiles in which she asked the typical Why this company/role? questions and had to solve 2 logic questions. Interview was super quick and I was immediately told that I had passed the first round and had to sign a form agreeing to get a car and live within their set boundary. - Final interview was with two men who asked the same Why TPP/this role? questions along some other questions. Wasn't given the opportunity to ask any questions which I found odd. - Didn't get an offer (which I wasn't planning on accepting anyway) but the email oddly states that "it is not company policy to provide specific feedback to applicants", which is a bit frustrating as a final year student applying to loads of jobs.
- First Interview: - Why this role/Why TPP? - Explain something you've been learning in your course recently? - I have 3 bags of marbles labelled red, blue, and mixed. None of them are correctly labelled. How many marbles do I have to pull out to know which bag is which. - I have 8 weights, all are of equal weight except one which is heavier. Use a traditional scale to identify the heavy weight. You can only use the scale twice. (I forgot the exact wordings but you get the idea!)
- Final Interview: - If you had a magic wand to change anything in the world, what would you change? - If you could add a class to the primary school curriculum, what would it be? - What is 7 x 12? - What is the cube of (insert number here)? - What is the cube root of 10648? For the maths questions, you are not given any paper and are expected to verbally explain your thinking process. You're also not allowed to say 'sorry'?? - If your friends were drunk, what would they say when asked why you applied to TPP?
