I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Oct 2009
Interview
Very professional and in-depth interview process. 15 min Screening interview - 1 hour phone interview - 2 separate 1 on 1 interviews. The posting to hiring process took 3 months which makes me question how organized upper management is on the hiring process. HR department seems to be well organized with good follow up for interview times. I expected a multiple person interview towards the final stages, but this did not happen.

Question 1
Tell me about a time when you overcame a difficult problem
I applied online. I interviewed at Thermo Fisher Scientific (Washington, DC)
Interview
Process was disorganized and poorly communicated from the beginning. I received one interview invitation at 10 PM for an interview the next morning, giving me essentially no time to prepare. Interviewers were unprepared and stated that they had not read my resume before speaking to me. The recruiter was slow to communicate and often required multiple prompts to schedule conversations. I was kept warm for over a month before receiving a generic rejection.
Overall, the process left me with serious concerns about the organization’s professionalism, internal communication, and respect for candidate time. Applicants should approach with caution and expect significant delays and difficulty with communication.

Despite being a huge corporation the interview process was quite speedy, which is not so common for companies of this size. The interview was online and the tone was quite informal.
