Interview
I had three phone screens and then had to put together a presentation, and then an ALL day onsite. I was there for almost 8 hours. It was the most intense interview I've ever had. For someone who has worked in top Tech companies recruiting Engineers, this was insane. Not even technical Leads go through this. I had to present to a room full of people and was then probed on sensitive diversity questions that seemed inappropriate and perhaps violated some HR laws. I left feeling completely drained, demoralized, and picked apart. I didn't end up getting the position and it looks like they're still looking for someone, which doesn't surprise me. Take a chance on someone. Don't totally pick them apart and make them feel like crap in the interview. Figure out a way to shorten it. Presenting to a large group like that is just cruel.

Question 1
Just be prepared to answer anything and everything. Be prepared to feel totally uncomfortable.

Interview
The process was extensive—spanning five rounds and six interviewers—which naturally set an expectation for personalized engagement and meaningful follow-up. Given the time and effort invested on both sides, receiving an automated rejection email at the end felt impersonal and disappointing, especially after what appeared to be in-depth conversations about mutual values and cultural fit.
I understand that hiring decisions can be difficult and competitive, but a more human and transparent closure to such a rigorous process would go a long way in upholding the Thoughtworks reputation for empathy and integrity—values that were emphasized throughout the interviews.
