I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Upwork (Seattle, WA) in Mar 2023
Interview
Initial interview was with a recruiter, actually two. They were responsive and nice to talk to. Next interview was with the Content Design Manager. Great woman, thought we really hit it off, which led to a panel interview and portfolio presentation. Although they prep you for the STAR format interview, it was not that. I ALSO thought that went well...but I had another offer on the table, so I openly told the recruiting team my situation. GHOSTED. Crickets after that. Followed up. Nothing. Then got the email that "after careful consideration, we've decided to not move forward with your resume" which completely confused me...because we were way past that. Unprofessional and disrespectful.

Question 1
Walk me through a difficult information architecure.
I applied online. I interviewed at Upwork (London, England) in Oct 2022
Interview
I had an initial 30 min call with HR and was told there would be 3 interviews, which I thought that included. There was actually 3 extra interviews, including one with the hiring manager and a portfolio presentation. This is fine, but is slightly excessive for a contract role. The interviews were relatively straightforward and the people seemed nice. But they did seem quite unprepared, were not asked in a way where you could give STAR format answers, and questions were repeated. Similar to other reviewers, I was completely ghosted at this point by the company, even when I chased up I got no reply. I'd given up 4 hours interview time + 1 day of prep for the portfolio review, so found this really frustrating and disrespectful.
