I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Walgreens (Melbourne, FL) in Mar 2015
Interview
Casual and brief. I was dressed better than the managers. I interviewed with 2 associate managers they asked very easy questions and were not being difficult or serious as many interviewers are. They joked and laughed the whole time. The culture at least this location was extremely casual. I think they even bent the rules on corporate dress code, one of them wore grey jeans instead of professional slacks. The other wore a T-shirt under her professional vest which aside from looking very odd doesn't meat the uniform requirements. Some people may see this informality as a bonus but keep in mind they still get to reprimand their subordinates for dressing the same way they do. Corporate does not seem to give store management much negotiation room on wages. They refused to raise my wage unless I stayed there for years and worked up to management. Meanwhile I could walk out and earn twice as much anywhere else.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Standard questions, Strengths, weaknesses etc. "Explain a time when" etc.
They took me to the office to ask why I was interested in the job and my qualifications. It was very short and was only about 6 questions. I was in high school at the time so they did ask about my studies and work time balance.
The Walgreens interview process was really easy—quick questions, relaxed vibe, and they mostly focused on availability and customer service. It didn’t feel stressful at all. it was over the phone as well
All they did was ask for my availability and where I see myself in the next 5 years. I received an offer the very same day, and started working the very next week.
