      Real Estate Interview

      1 Feb 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Singapore
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at WeWork (Singapore)

      Interview

Had four rounds of interviews with people from various offices. Interviews were fine with a relatively easy case study. The interview process took about six weeks with long periods of silence from WeWork and no indication of next steps. Eventually I was invited in for an in-person interview with the Singapore-based recruiter, who told me she would get me an update over the next month. Never heard back and when I followed up I was told that they had proceeded with other candidates. I would have thought that there would have been consistent communication throughout the process, but they leave you hanging without any status updates. This was prevalent throughout the interview process and the first of many red flags. This was also disappointing because as candidates we were scheduled for calls with different time zones and made time accordingly. The least WeWork could have done was communicate clearly. The interview process as a whole was extremely, and I cannot stress this enough, EXTREMELY unprofessional. The people I spoke to on the video calls were not aware of where I was in the interview process or who I had spoken to before. They also didn't know what the next steps were. The cherry on top was that after having gone through all the rounds, the recruiter had indicated that compensation was likely to be lower than the overall market. Had I received an offer after being told that, coupled with their unprofessional interview process, I would have likely turned it down. It's amateur hour at WeWork and they need to step up their recruiting practices if they want to attract top quality candidates. TL;DR: Do not interview with WeWork unless you have time to waste and are ok with below market salaries. Case Study Prompt Please provide a 1 page executive summary with supporting calculations (a full Excel model), providing an overview of a potential transaction. Key inputs are as follows: • WeWork signs a lease with a landlord for a 15 year term in NYC in Class A building for 100,000 sq.ft. • Research relevant inputs here - rent, NNN expenses, tenant incentive, capital to build out etc. • WeWork is negotiating a 3, 5 and 7 year membership agreement with Facebook to take over the entire space • What would WeWork charge Facebook on a 3, 5 or 7 year deal taking into account property expenses, operational expenses, capital expenses, returns & payback, etc. • Please list additional business points / WeWork starting positions that may need to be negotiated
