I was called on Wednesday and after a brief conversation I was invited to an interview on the following Monday, and was also told later a confirmation will be sent to me via email.
That was excited and I started preparing my interview. However, till the end of Thursday, I hadn't received any confirmation from Xero, I tried to call back the number they reached me, no one picks up.
I was patient enough to wait till Friday after work, I checked my email, still nothing, that's when I started doubting they may have forgotten me. So I sent an email asking if I am still going to the interview, it was 7:00 pm already luckily enough got the confirmation in one hour.
So I spent the whole weekend for the interview, getting ready to impress my interviewers. Actually the interview went well. Two interviewers are pretty much my age, we have the same background, and a lot of commonalities. The interview lasted for 1 hr and a half, and I asked for feedback, and it turned out positive.
From my perspective, I thought I will be sitting with one of the business partner in one week time.
However till last Friday, no one has contacted me, so I wrote email to the recruiter to follow up, no response. Till this week Tuesday night before I WENT TO BED, Xero send me an email, and told me that the position has been filled. I don't know if I should feel relieved or sad.
I asked for feedback and the reason, still feel like you are talking to the air.
First of all, I feel like it was a waste of time while waiting for nothing. When I tried to know more about the interviewer and follow up via email, I felt like no one's there to answer my questions. I know the recruitment could be very busy and frustrated, I showed my understanding and patience. However Xero should at least update its candidates at earlier as possible so I won't waste my time and move on.
Secondly, I am a Xero user, and Xero's responses to users' emails are always fast and useful. However, not very much to its fans who wanted to become one of them. These year Xero is going to expand its business, which means more people will join the team, but I dont think I will be one of them anymore, because I have seen the potential problem, and hope Xero could take it seriously.
if I didnt follow up the confirmation, what will it be? I may not write the review now. Just because I care about Xero, I wrote down my feedback, and I still like using Xero Products.
