I applied directly to the eBay site. They are expanding in the Seattle area and it looked to be a good fit for my skills. The recruiting staff was very punctual and did a good job in arranging an informational interview. I did not have a good interview, but frankly I just choked. I guess it happens in interviews. The person I met with asked me some reasonable high-level design questions and emphasized that next steps would involve "technical" questions. I decided not to pursue for my own reasons, but there is nothing from the contact I had with them that would make me dissuade others.
