      Graduate Trainee Interview

      20 May 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at eBay (London, England) in Sept 2023

      Interview

I went through several stages of eBay’s graduate recruitment process and unfortunately found the experience quite frustrating. I invested a significant amount of time preparing – including extensive research and writing a 20-page report tailored to the role. I also traveled to London at my own expense for part of the process, which was not fully reimbursed despite being told it would be. The final stage involved an in-person trial day. I even visited the office in advance to introduce myself and make a positive impression. During the session, I actively participated and shared ideas, yet the feedback I received claimed I hadn't contributed enough. It felt like my efforts weren’t properly acknowledged or valued. Overall, the process lacked transparency and consideration for candidates' time and financial commitment. I left feeling disappointed and that my effort had gone to waste.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

A: They asked about eBay’s core values, something along the lines of “The 5 Ss” (though I may not remember the exact terminology). I was expected to relate my answers to how I align with their values and how those would influence my decisions or behavior in the role. It seemed like they wanted to test how well I had researched and understood the company culture.
