Business Process Analyst
Location: Denver/Boulder Metro Area, Colorado, USA (Hybrid)
Department: Engineering / AI
Reports to: Chief AI Engineer (CAIE)
Compensation: $85,000–$125,000 base salary (DOE) + benefits
About ProfitGrid
ProfitGrid is building the infrastructure layer for accountants and services businesses: white-label bookkeeping for CPA firms today, and an AI financial intelligence platform (benchmarking, forecasting, anomaly detection) tomorrow. We’re a fast-moving team that pairs strong operational discipline with modern AI/automation.
Role Summary
We’re hiring a senior Business Process Analyst to map, standardize, and streamline the operational processes that power ProfitGrid—starting with Back-office Accounting (GL, AP, AR, month-end close) and Data Preparation for AI consumption. You will interview stakeholders, document As-Is and To-Be flows, prioritize improvement opportunities, and work with engineers to enable AI-driven automation. This role is highly hands-on and outcomes-oriented.
What You’ll Do
- Discovery & Analysis
- Conduct structured interviews and workshops with ProfitGrid personnel (US & PH) to capture current-state processes, pain points, and metrics.
- Produce As-Is process maps, swimlanes, RACI, SIPOC, and data flow diagrams; identify control points and failure modes.
- Design & Prioritization
- Define To-Be target operating models, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and measurable success criteria.
- Build a ranked backlog of process improvements/automations (impact × effort) and align on quarterly delivery plans.
- Enablement & Delivery
- Partner with the CAIE and engineering to translate process designs into AI-enabled automations (e.g., n8n/iPaaS orchestration, function calling, classification/JSON outputs, data labeling pipelines).
- Write user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases; support UAT and change management.
- Data Readiness for AI
- Specify data prep requirements (schemas, validations, PII handling, mapping rules—e.g., chart-of-accounts translation).
- Define data quality checks (completeness, accuracy, timeliness) and reconciliation steps for KPI/benchmarking outputs.
- Governance & Compliance
- Embed basic SOC 2-lite controls into processes (access, logging, change control, evidence capture).
- Maintain process documentation (Confluence/Notion), version control, and training materials.
- SME to Leadership
- Act as subject-matter expert to the CAIE and senior leadership; present findings, ROI, and rollout plans.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in Google Cloud platform (GCP) is required
- Proven delivery of As-Is/To-Be mapping (BPMN/UML), SOPs, and measurable improvements (cycle time, quality, cost).
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle (Agile), writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and leading UAT.
- Experience partnering with engineering to implement workflow automation (iPaaS/RPA)—we use n8n (training provided).
- Data literacy: comfort with data schemas, JSON outputs, validations; ability to specify data quality controls for analytics/AI.
- Excellent facilitation, interviewing, stakeholder management, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Vertex AI is highly preferred
- Exposure to AI/ML workflows (classification, extraction, function calling, RAG) or analytics engineering (ETL/ELT).
- Familiarity with back-office accounting processes (GL, AP, AR, month-end close), chart-of-accounts mapping, and KPI generation.
- Experience with SOC 2 or similar control frameworks woven into operational processes.
- Tools: Lucidchart/Miro/Visio (BPMN 2.0), Jira/Confluence (or equivalents), basic SQL proficiency a plus.
- Preferably 10+ years in business/process analysis, process design, and automation in operational environments (finance/accounting, shared services, or BPO a plus).
Tools You’ll Use
- Process & Collaboration: Lucidchart/Miro, Confluence/Notion, Jira
- Automation: n8n, iPaaS/queueing concepts
- Data: JSON schemas, validation libraries, basic analytics tooling
