Description Acadia Insurance was made to handle a crisis. Literally. The company was founded in 1992 in response to the Maine Workers' Compensation crisis when a lack of insurers in the region almost caused the collapse of the workers' comp system. Acadia specializes in commercial insurance lines for small-to-medium businesses in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and Vermont. Acadia, which is a subsidiary of property/casualty giant W.R. Berkley, sells its products through local independent agents.
