    Former Employee - Case Manager

    Pros

A lot of the pros and cons depend on your site. It's a very large agency with many locations. The culture at my site was generally good and I enjoyed my co-workers. Enjoyed working with clients. Good work-life balance.

    Cons

It's ironic they're an anti-poverty agency, as the pay is terrible. Other benefits are average. Some people in management shouldn't be managers.

  4. COVID-19

"The pay is great but not a place I would stay long term"

I have been working at Action For Boston Community Development full-time for less than a year

    Pros

the pay is the best thing

    Cons

They only give PTO. Your personal, sick, and vacation all go into one which is your PTO. So basically use your PTO wisely. Also you have to work your full 35 hour shift or they take it out your PTO to make 35 hours. There is no way around this.

    Pros

ABCD is an amazing place to get hands-on case management experience. The staff is collaborative and you get several opportunities to learn new things. Working at a community site, you're able to become invested with community members.

    Cons

Sites can sometimes be understaffed. Lots of movement of staff to different sites depending on need changes dynamics.
