Tech layoffs - too good to be true

Pros

Great coworkers, seemingly great benefits (that they can’t afford?), flexible WFH and very supportive of work life balance.

Cons

Company laid off about 1/3 of the employees with 0 warning or indication. These layoffs happened at all levels and for all teams. Some employees had been there years, some literally only 1 day (why encourage someone to switch jobs and then let them go immediately?). Teams were actively recruiting and then they laid off a huge portion of the company.

Remote first culture, friendly employees, great pay.

Cons

Mass layoff without any transparency. A lot of us were blindsided and surprised by it all - meanwhile 40% of us were let go, and leadership gets promoted. There were employees who literally worked 1 full day and got let go. Leadership failed us!

Cons

Leadership of the company is an absolute joke. Unless you yourself are on the leadership team, you don't actually know what is happening at the company. They stress this idea of open communication, but sugar coat everything and fail to share the actual truth. IMO most employees who actually understand what is going on at the company have zero faith or trust in the leadership... look at other recent reviews, the company has been on a downward trend the past year or so.
