Way too much politics. People are often promoted based on internal politics or the desire to have diversity numbers, rather than on ability. Pay is far from fair and annual raises are a joke. You never really feel like a valuable member of the company, and the semi-annual evaluations are an absolute joke. They are so subjective on whether or not your supervisor likes you that it’s not even funny- and frankly outside of an opportunity to hear how poorly you are kissing up they are meaningless.

Can never reach the market pay (average pay for industry standard). It's a carrot they dangle out there but you'll never be able to reach it. About 80% of performance evaluation is subjective so if you have a supervisor who doesn't like you, then your performance evaluations will never be good and compensation will be impacted. You'll hear about their wonderful pension, but It is screwy. The amount you receive from your pension is reduced by other sources of retirement income.
