Pros
You have all the resources available to you to be successful. Lots of opportunity for advancement if your willing to travel or relocate, good compensation, uplifting environment, and good benefits.
Cons
Can never reach the market pay (average pay for industry standard). It's a carrot they dangle out there but you'll never be able to reach it. About 80% of performance evaluation is subjective so if you have a supervisor who doesn't like you, then your performance evaluations will never be good and compensation will be impacted. You'll hear about their wonderful pension, but It is screwy. The amount you receive from your pension is reduced by other sources of retirement income.
