Pros

The team is young and talented. Everyone is nice and friendly. You can easily make many friends in the company, including the founders (they are incredibly friendly). Ideas are always valued and you are allowed to choose what you want to work on. Learning is encouraged, and books are also provided at your choice. The working environment is very friendly. People are happy to help. Sometimes it gets a bit intense when it involves live trading, but mostly you can work on your own pace. People are all very intelligent and outstanding in their field. The tech stack is state-of-the-art and evolving with the frontage of modern technology. Hardworking and self-driven are buried in the company culture, and you will get generous compensation for that. The whole organisation is flat and flexible. Voices can be heard widely in the company. Bureaucracy is not a thing. Lots of food and drinks, including free lunch of your choice, various choices of fruits served to you every day (always watermelons). Breakfast also provided, you can pick from freshly cooked ones to Korean cup noodles. Free coffee every morning. Other benefits including an awesome view over darling harbour, table tennis table and pool table available, nintendo switch (and good players to play with), video game sessions, team building events & birthday cakes. Dress whatever you like. Showers and bath towels provided. Flexible working hours. In sum, it feels very friendly, relaxing, and productive thanks to all the effort from management. You can find both comfort and self-fulfillment working in this company.

Cons

Recruitment bar is high. Work from home is not generally available. Though the office is more comfortable than home in my humble opinion.

Pros

I had the pleasure of working with Autumn Compass for 3 years. As I was an early hire, I saw the team grow from a slim 5 to over 20, with each new hire resulting in an excellent new team member. The team is incredibly skilled and very welcoming. If you're having difficulty with anything, whether it be code structure, algorithms, etc. you will always find multiple engineers or analysts that are happy to help. On top of being intelligent, skilled staff, they're great people to be around. The management team is incredibly intelligent and supportive of the rest of the company. Each manager is an expert in their given field and will do their best to share their skills and experience. If there are any personal issues, management is more than happy to accomodate where possible. Additionally, they frequently involve themselves in the team activities and are viewed not as 'management', but as part of the team itself. The team spirit is high at Autumn Compass. Often the office can be quiet and serious, although at times there will be a gather-round to listen to one of Joes stories, or partake in a light-hearted debate that takes the office by storm. Most days the company will provide lunch and all the staff will generally eat lunch together. Whether you're an analyst, admin, engineer or intern, all are welcome around the lunch table! On top of lunch, there is always fresh fruit and other (less healthy) snacks available. For those who are fans of bubble-tea and/or Fridays, prepare for bubble-tea Fridays. The company provides table tennis and a pool table for those times when you just need a break. Table tennis tournaments were beginning just as I was leaving. If you're any good, see if you can beat Jia. If pool is more your jam, try and best Jason. On top of this, a weekly game night is held. Both video games and board games are on offer so no matter your preference, you'll be satisfied. New game recommendations are encouraged. Recently their hours have become more flexible. Allowing staff to start between 8:30 and 9:30, finishing between 5:30 and 6:30. Whilst there are a few cons (which I've listed below), I cannot speak higher volumes of the team and my time working there.

Cons

There are only a few cons I can think of: - Their interview process can be intimidating as it is incredibly rigorous, frequently involving a full day of interviewing for each potential hire. Although this helps to maintain the high quality of the team. - Can get very stressful if things go wrong. If crucial systems go down, drop everything as the priority is getting those systems back up ASAP. This is simply the nature of the work. - Work hours aren't as flexible as some would prefer.

Pros

Incredibly smart team of people, wonderful friends. Everyone is generally quite shy (it's a pretty hardcore bunch of engineering personalities) but that really adds to the atmosphere - everyone is pretty genuine here. Additionally, management is incredibly accomodating and generally free and happy to chat (also they buy us coffee and lunch every day!) The sense of camaraderie really pervades through all 'levels' of the company to the point where I feel just as comfortable chatting to the founders as I am to new team members. Therefore, the company is very casual in the best way possible despite being wildly competent. Micro-management is definitely not a thing and really allows the employees the freedom and autonomy to work how they individually need to, and therefore encourages the best work to come of it. Hours are very flexible and the office itself is amazing (with a spectacular view) and fully stocked amenities/ snacks available. Coming to work makes me happy :)

Cons

Can get stressful at times for management and the tech teams, but that's only natural with the ups and downs of business, and especially due to the nature of trading. No one on the team really lets it get to them and I respect that very much. The hiring process can be rigorous, but really that just amplifies the quality of the personnel that we do take on. I really have to rack my brains to find any real cons. AC really is one of a kind.
