Pros

1) Good work life balance 2) No hidden components in salary 3) good for contract people

Cons

1) planning is worst. Even if you are permanent they will lay you off at any time if you are not known to the top management. 2) they will hire new people with so many lay off subsequently happening . So you will be always in line of fire even if you are top performer. Because you never know whom they are going to fire. 3) you will be given a good rating on end of year apparaisal and next week you will be asked to leave saying that there are no jobs and more extra ordinary performers. 4) contracts will never be extended most cases. So if you don't have a job at all then join Bechtel.

Pros

1. Chances to work on Multi-Billion $ projects 2. Some managers are exceptional but most are superficial. 3. Good Work-life balance 4. Safety culture 5. Respectful culture (be it even on face of it) 6. Heaven for female employees (lot of preferences granted to females)

Cons

1. Too much FAT. Cut down on the huge overheads, that is the reason projects are not coming in, being costly contractor. 2. When in down-turn, lay off the costly people, working level people who actually work, are asked to go? what kind of people centric behaviour is this? 3. Since the new CEO Brendan has come in, no new projects. Something is very wrong at the most basic level of this company right from his position. Many non-essential things happening, why doesnt this company focus on winning new jobs rather than just doing everything else??? 4. If the projects are on, currently as of Q4 2017, nothing on hand, firing on all cylinders ~1000 people laid off in less than 6 months; and hiring is happening!? What sick of logic? Why cant people be trained and developed to take up roles to an extent that the company thinks it wise to fire those people and hire new people???? 5. Poor salaries compared to industry standards, 6. Favoritism playing big role in getting meaty profiles/job. 7. No clear reasons why someone is or is not promoted. 8. Females have largely better preferences. 9. Confidentiality - is the key, 11/10 subjects are confidential and are not supposed to be discussed. Salaries/positions are not to be talked of, so automatically management wont be required to face any questions about it. 10. Management conveniently withholds the information that it wants to, preference is given to college hires over regular/lateral hires. During the downturn too, experienced hands being told to move away and the college hires (who were college hires about 5-6 years ago) are still making merry like a twinkle in management's eye. 11. Very difficult to prove your boss wrong if he takes a revenge and reports you to Management as poor performer - even if you are NOT. You may end up losing your job at the first opportunity or the first downturn. Seen that happen with people. 12. Internal politics at all time high. Since 4-5 years politics is so usual, the company feels like just a average company, nothing good about it. 13. The Ethics and covenants just apply to the employees, Management is above that!

Pros

There are no pros of working at Bechtel, just a bad environment with dirty politics, few managers just treat their team mates as slaves, so be very careful before joining this company. Managers in this company are asked to treat the resources as slaves.

Cons

There are few managers in Bachtel, in software development team, they are not a technical person, but they pressurize his team mates so badly that you can’t survive there, all I can say is, if you are gonna work with them, your life is gonna be hell. Many folks have lost their jobs because of them
