Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for the contributions you made during your time with the CDC Foundation. We’re glad to hear that you valued the benefits, the variety of the work, and the opportunity to support initiatives across multiple states. Those aspects reflect the broad reach and impact of the work supported through the Foundation. We also note the perspective you shared regarding management support, compensation growth, funding structure, and retention. Many roles at the Foundation are supported by time-limited grant or project funding, which shapes the structure and duration of certain positions. If you would like to share additional context about your experience, you are welcome to reach out directly at aellison@cdcfoundation.org . We appreciate the time and effort you dedicated during your tenure and wish you continued success in your career.

Pros

Great benefits, super qualified and competent colleagues (outside of HR), and relatively flexible work-life balance (this is changing a lot with stricter poilicies recently).

Cons

In the case of many large non-profits, leadership is completely separated from the folks who are actually doing the work. Decisions related to funding are made by people who have very little insight into what would be most beneficial on the ground. Communication from C-Suite is confusing or nonexistent.

Decent contract job

Pros

Remote work, benefits, work itself

Cons

Contract work for state funded projects, lack of cohesion with CDCF where the org wants their employees to collaborate and be cordial, but we don’t actually work with each other since we’re placed at state health departments

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for the important work you did as part of the CDC Foundation team. We are glad to hear you found value in the remote flexibility, benefits, and the work itself. Many of our positions are funded through time-limited grants and contracts, particularly those based in state and local health departments, and we recognize that this project-based structure can sometimes feel disconnected from the broader CDC Foundation community. Your feedback about cohesion and collaboration is especially helpful. We are continuing to look for ways to better connect staff who are placed within partner agencies, including more intentional communication, engagement opportunities, and resources that help team members feel supported and connected to the Foundation’s mission and culture, no matter where they sit day to day. We truly appreciate your contributions to public health during your time with us and wish you all the best in your continued career.

Thank you for sharing your positive experience and for your valuable contributions during your time at the CDC Foundation. We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the pay, benefits, work-life balance, and your team. We understand the desire for more permanent positions and appreciate your feedback on this. As a foundation that often operates in response to time-limited public health initiatives, many of our roles are tied to specific projects. However, we're always exploring ways to expand opportunities for longer-term roles. If you'd like to discuss this further or stay connected, please feel free to reach out to Anita Ellison at aellison@cdcfoundation.org. Thank you again for your insights!
