Pros
Its an easy job. You can get through your shift on autopilot most days, and very limited problem solving skills are needed. Theres always someone you can reach iut to for assistance with problem calls
Cons
Its extremely repetitive and mindless, so if you are someone who likes work that really keeps you focused and mentally activated, you may not theive here.

Great Place to Work
3 Feb 2023 - Anonymous Employee in Portland, ORRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I work in the administration, and I absolutely love it. We have a lot of autonomy in our department to make decisions but ample help from the higher-ups when necessary. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and awesome. Work environment is very relaxed. Company is transparent with plans and execs hold anonymous Q&A to answer questions. Work from home is widely available. Highly recommend this place!
Cons
They pretty much only promote internally so you have to get started in the call center if you want to move into admin. That's only a con if you're trying to apply from outside the company though. Otherwise nothing else I can think of.

Good company - toxic managers
5 Sep 2022 - Operations in Portland, ORRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good benefits. Upper management tries to be generous and progressive.
Cons
Ops managers have an adversarial mentality about anyone that's not in the club - and the hourly people are looked upon as "the help" and by and large treated accordingly. Some middle mgmt types are aware and try to compensate but others learned that brown-nosing is highly rewarded by the managers so they never miss a chance - and will absolutely throw you to the wolves to curry favor (also effective btw - toxic mgmt 101). Nobody however dares to say anything because retaliation is alive & well at CLI. I dare say it's thriving under current Operations "leadership". If you don't fit in, or kiss up to the managers on the odd day they decide to grace you with their presence, then you're marked for death, and within 90 days there'll be some "reason" to fire you. Happened again and again in the last 3 years (and counting) that the current reptilian management team has been killing the culture at CLI.

Not so great as a "forever" career
13 Nov 2022 - Interpreter in Portland, ORRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Good first job to get into the field, and are not picky about giving people a chance to work for them.
Cons
They direct calls from all over the place and you are just brought right into a conversation without any prior heads up except for hearing an unfamiliar company name from the operator. It can be a hospital, a bank, a school, lawyer, insurance, and you just have to know how to communicate in all of those areas so studying and keeping up with different terminologies and knowing how things work in each field is a must to be able to interpret properly. Sure it's possible to do all this, but the problem is - there is no vision for the future. You have to keep studying and be up to date, but so wage increase opportunities and you are working as a "contractor" which just means you don't get any benefits while working. You pay for your own equipment and the landline bills. If you read through all of this, I doubt anyone would dream to keep this job and consider it a possible career.
