The state of the company behind the scenes is a disaster

Pros

Friendly team of people doing the work, great to work with. Everyone is doing their best. Great potential with solid products. The pay is competitive and fair, and pretty solid benefits.

Cons

- High level management is completely out of touch, or if they know they don't care about the regression of efficiency in processes that could improve customer, and employee experience. Favoring regressing to archaic processes over technologies that would improve and make more efficient the experiences of the customer and low level employee carrying the weight and that are doing the unnecessary grunt work. - When ideas or suggestions are made, even in a respectful way, that person is often ignored, or fired shortly after they argue their point. Management does not like being challenged or shown there could be more efficient, and better quality ways of doing things if it wasn't their idea. They really love "YES" people, and that is about the only way to succeed in this company. If you aren't that type of person, you will have a short tenure at Colohouse. - The Board of Directors are being painted a pretty picture, but that pretty picture is made because of the very loyal, and dedicated employees that are unnecessarily struggling, spending countless hours gathering data from numerous archaic sources behind the scenes to create that picture. I urge the board to take some time to talk to the low level employees and hear the concerns, maybe they would care more and uncover the inefficiencies that are hurting the company, the customers, and low level employees more than they are helping. - The company from an employee perspective seems like its going backwards in time the way it handles internal processes. Ditching effective solutions for inefficient, heavy workload, very time consuming processes that take away from spending more time improving the customer experience, and focusing on the customer. - Turnover is high at this company, from management all the way down to the grunt workers.

A company with potential held back by poor leadership.

Pros

It would be a lie to say there were any pros of working for this company.

Cons

The executive team is the single worst in the entire industry. A collection of executives from failed and/or stagnating companies who think the only issue with their previous companies was that they didn’t have enough money as opposed to their failed business strategies and leadership ability. They are so committed to maintaining their own power that they have created a culture that goes against their stated culture of “one team”. Actively telling employees to avoid working with other teams to avoid the ire of other executives they know they disagree with. At the end of the day all decisions are made by executives with little or no input from employees and employees must follow an unwritten rule of avoiding disagreeing with executives or you will be fired. Highest turnover of any company I’ve ever worked at across the board (C suite all the way down to your entry level salesperson) The CEO is brand new to the role and I cannot say he made a single change that has been a positive. He spends a lot of time interviewing with random magazines and doing panels while his executive team accomplishes nothing. Benefits package is mediocre and behind industry leaders. Cheapest medical group available (Cigna) and an unreasonable celebration of life insurance and disability benefits. 401k doesn’t include matching. Seem to think telehealth is a game changing benefit. Bonus is majorly tied to sales/retention metrics that aren’t properly defined. With a business heavily focused on growth through acquisitions employees have to constantly be worried about being replaced; and there are no plans to do anything particularly interesting product wise....it's a very venture capital sanitized business plan.

Pros

Hybrid work (in-person v remote)

Cons

Everything else Management will screw you to save a penny. They hire their friends regardless of skill. Hard work is only rewarded if you are part of the inner circle. Note that there are so few women at the top and how few people of color are in the entire company. They talk a big game but are all words. Nothing ever gets done. Hostile work environment means nothing to them.
