      Cons

      Many groups are not as advanced as advertised, so you may want to bounce around till you find a place you like. Also, government is not know for adapting to industry changes quickly

      Opportunities to be a part of very interesting applied research and development projects spanning an immense range of technologies.

      Cons

      Too much technical work is contracted out to defense industry contractors. This results in most mid level and above career personnel being pushed into project leadership and managerial roles, marginalizing opportunities to develop into a practical and functional technical expert within the organization.
