I worked at Cooper Companies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

In the past, the culture was family oriented.

    Cons

The culture here has changed significant in a negative manner. Lots of changes to benefits and several layoffs / restructuring. Also, very decentralized company, and people don’t communicate well with each other.

I have been working at Cooper Companies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Before Al White and Holly Sheffield took over in May of 2018, TCC was a fantastic company to work for. You felt proud to be a part of a great company, especially with Bob at the helm.
    Today - ABSOLUTELY NO PROS!

    Cons

Al and Holly are unethical, sneaky, selfish and downright snakes. They have taken nearly everything good away from TCC employees and most of it they've done without telling us employees. All they care about is their own paychecks and benefits, and the "bottom line" - all at the expense of the hardworking, day-to-day employees.
They care NOTHING about employees and could care less if every single person were to quit. We are all expendable to them and all they care about are their own paychecks and bonuses.
BOTTOM LINE: Do NOT take a job with TCC as long as Al and Holly are running the show. You will be unhappy, mistreated and be working for leaders that are deceiftul, have no morals and are dishonest. NO ONE is safe - they have fired long-standing employees at the drop of a hat and laughed about it on their way out. STAY AWAY unless you are shady, dishonorable and don't care about people.

    Advice to Management

Fire Al and Holly and go back to being a proud company that takes care of its employees. Be 100% transparent - stop taking away benefits, pay and privileges. Treat employees with respect and value them. Stop being selfish and look at what great employees you have now vs. just trying to replace everyone with the cheapest labor you can. Be honorable and be a company employees are proud to work for - not a company where employees are fearful to walk in the door every day.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Cooper Companies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This is a great place for Directors, VPs and PhDs: Exorbitant salaries, zero accountability and the only deliverable is subordinate upward mobility.

    Cons

Every employee below Director is fodder for culling. Profit is all, until we get caught by the FDA.
OSHA, Labor Law, Diversity: 'Never heard of them.' These are the real core values of Cooper Vision.

    Advice to Management

Enjoy being among the 1% while it lasts. The revolution is nigh.

I worked at Cooper Companies full-time

    Pros

Free soda and snacks. That's really it.

    Cons

Fake people. So much fakeness, it will make you vomit. Terrible managers, especially in HR. Insane amount of micromanaging. They will ask for you to do something, you do it, next morning, it's been undone. Repeat for everything. You can't blink without a meeting to discuss why you blinked. They want you to be assertive and creative, but prevent it in every way. Heaven forbid, you have an opinion or a different thought process. There's another meeting to go over why your opinions suck. Stay clear. Still kicking myself for ever accepting a position with this company.

    Advice to Management

Nice enough CEO. All others are terrible.

    Pros

Low-turnover results in consistent culture. Not uncommon to see people stay here for 15+ years. Active in the community.

    Cons

The business doesn't say "No" to Upper management enough, resulting in slow adoption of best-practices and wasted money. Couple bad managers that have stayed put prevent talent from being mentored. Career development program lacking.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to challenge long-time incumbents and make Career Development a priority for those of us that are trying to move up.

    Pros

The company is a third largest contact lens company in the United State and has a variety of products in the world.

    Cons

The company culture is not that great. No opportunities for inside employees to move up the ladder. They keep bringing in outside people for management levels.
