I worked at CryoLife full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting industry in medical devices and life saving technologies. Overall intelligent workforce and most people were appreciative of your efforts and time. They do reward loyalty though.

    Cons

Because the company is publicly traded and subject to SEC, FDA, and SOX compliance there are mountains of SOPs and red tape. Sometimes it feels like a bureaucratic nightmare to complete simple tasks. Some departments are easier to work in than others, and management does not always support or back up their staff when challenged by upper management. The benefits were not great considering the size of the company.

    Advice to Management

Let employees and regional managers have a greater say in territory realignments.

I have been working at CryoLife full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Growing company with relatively new management and excellent outlook for growth. Rewarding to working for a company that saves people's lives. Company is making efforts to improve employee engagement through new activities and perks like food trucks, massage chair events, fitness activities/coaching and a soon-to-come onsite gym.

    Cons

Salaries and benefits, while good, could be better. (Couldn't they always?). Employees and departments tend to be somewhat siloed.

    Advice to Management

Do more of what you're doing now to continue to improve employee engagement. Improve inter-departmental communication. Offer more opportunities for community involvement and education/career growth.

    Life saving technologies.

    Cons

Field management lacks training and basic management skills

    Advice to Management

I have been working at CryoLife full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

4x10 work week. Paid on thursdays

    Cons

HR is horrible. No matter how many times you let them know your work environment is hostile, nothing is done. Benefits are abismal. If you are a woman and try to take any leave or disability due to complications with pregnancy they make it hard and act like they're offended because you have a medical issue. When someone makes a mistake regarding pay, payroll has an attitude about it. If you're not on the corporate side you will work every holiday.

    Advice to Management

Complete overhaul of supervisors, managers and team leads in TPL. Everyone in TPL is miserable and it trickles down to subordinates. Also, there is no discipline for employees that set out to create hostility, which is why turn over is high.

I have been working at CryoLife full-time

    Pros

Good fresh out of college training. Some departments better run than others if you are fortunate.

    Cons

Can't depend on anything management says; can't trust supervision in several departments. Low pay in entry level positions with high turnover. Since new management took over, almost all upper level position employees (long and short term) have been terminated, many abruptly. Others have resigned and left the company. New direction is a roller coaster.

    Advice to Management

Morale is terrible and people know not to believe you anymore.
