a sinking ship.....

Pros

1) Put a "joining late" message in availability group to skip morning sprint meetings, no accountability for the rest of the day. 2) Long bullshitting meetings in which you can get your own stuff done. 3) No need to work, once in good books of founders (getting there is really easy, just constantly validate them). 4) You can get a lot of gratification without creating any real world impact. 5) Day drinking, smoking, passing out is encouraged 6) Have a feeling of hanging out with smart people. 7) Talk about great things, and feel good just by blabbering. 8) Lessons in what not to do in your next venture. 9) Individual teams & contributors are good and have patience (of not creating real-world impact) 10) Have good time at denial

Cons

1) Company policies, values, and culture were a marketing stunt, not followed even to a slightest bit. 2) Criminally incompetent at keeping track of reality 3) Kaccha rasta to a trashy office space (just rent an apartment with good lightning) 4) Constant lies to others and themselves

I'm not sure if you indeed worked at Cutshort. 1. You said your role was "Executive Assistant to the CEO". Well, I'm the CEO and have never had an EA here. 2. "Trashy office". Hmm. It's subjective but we liked it very much. Will share some pics. 3. If all the company culture docs and blogs were a "marketing stunt", how did we consistently had 4.5+ ratings on both Glassdoor and Ambitionbox for 6 years? I understand your experience might not have been good. From your review it looks likely that Cutshort wasn't the right company for you to work at. In that sense, we both made a mistake.

Pros

Good team members (mostly), made some friends. Free therapy (because it is required)

Cons

They consistently engage in countless meetings and discussions, non-stop. However, even after these meetings, they implement half-finished and incomplete initiatives in the name of 'startup culture and hustle,' trying to maintain a rapid pace. While they claim to welcome ideas, they only support those that align with a particular group of individuals in the 'senior management.' Their purported commitment to customer-centricity and market demand appears to be a joke, as nobody truly understands what's happening, and every company-wide townhall regurgitates the same content. Within the organization, some individuals only offer advice, pretend to work, and fail to accomplish anything substantial. Moreover, they react strongly, resorting to yelling, when presented with reasonable counter-arguments. The company seems to operate like a family business, where favoritism consistently triumphs over sound reasoning.

Pros

1. The place does have a good hiring team that hires talented folks. Overall, the colleagues that you would get to work with (not all) are quite talented and good folks to befriend. 2. They have mental health benefits (free therapy)

Cons

1. Family run business (needs to be disclosed at the start) 2. Toxic workplace with major gas-lighting problems 3. No job security. Team mates have gotten sacked for no reason at times. They follow a hire and fire policy, hire members and fire members in under 3 months. 4. Lack of direction in terms of strategy with the team being in their own bubble 5. Clueless leadership team 6. Conflicted between a product / service company 7. Unstructured internal policies that don't make sense 8. Punctuality problem with meetings with meetings lasting more than 4-5 hours with no outcomes.
