Fast-paced environment marred by instability and micromanagement

Pros

fast-paced fintech environment with exposure to the lending and automotive finance space.

Cons

Job Instability Zero Job security.Role structures change frequently, and there have been multiple instances of sudden layoffs with no prior communication to affected employees. Micromanagement Leadership tends to hover closely over day-to-day tasks, leaving little room for autonomy or independent decision-making. Employees are often required to seek approval for minor actions, which slows productivity and signals a low level of trust in the team's capabilities. Excessive Work Pressure The workload expectations are disproportionate to the resources and support provided. Unrealistic targets and tight deadlines create a consistently high-pressure environment, often bleeding into personal time. Burnout is a real concern, and work-life balance is largely aspirational rather than practised.

Pros

Wider team is competent, helpful and friendly. Very positive vibes in the office. People are considerate of each other, and generally very supportive. Product is pretty solid as well, with good opportunities to scale and automate.

Cons

After a week of joining, the manager started doubting my competence everytime my approach differed from his thought process. He also kept talking negatively about the engineering team and leadership's approach towards product. When I asked for some idea of what success looks like, manager said we don't work like that here and you can go somewhere else if you want to work in a place like that. I wasn't assigned any real product work (just a couple of very poorly executed tasks were handed over mid way, with no clarity on what were they trying to achieve). Manager refused to handover the ongoing projects, which cut me off from rest of the team since we were not working on anything common. For the rest of the month, he just kept looking for mistakes, making a huge deal out of any little slip that happened. I was walking on eggshells throughout my time there. At the end of first month I was asked to go. Leadership didn't try to know my side of the story before making the decision. If you are a solid Product Manager, I would strongly advice against joining the product team at Driva at the moment, unless you want to risk your reputation and career. In my limited time there, my assessment is that the manager doesn't seem to get b2c product management and has some serious limitations in communication, stakeholder management and people management. I got the sense that he doesn't see any value in understanding perspectives of others and probably feels that everyone is beneath him in competence. He seems really smart and kind in first few conversations, but a completely different side emerges once disagreements happen. What he says and what he actually means are often two completely different things, and you have to do a lot of guesswork to understand what he really wants.

Pros

Some of the people are very kind and friendly, the company is happy to invest in social experiences for the staff. If you are a completely independent, self-starter you may enjoy this company.

Cons

The management for the company are completely uninterested in engaging in feedback or suggestions for improvement. They offer a world of possibilities in terms of growth and flexibility during the interview process, but they communicate extremely poorly once you have accepted the role. There is no onboarding process and no training offered, you will be expected to be completely independent from your first day and no feedback or support will be offered. The moment the company suspects that you are frustrated or unfulfilled, they alienate you from the rest of the staff, criticise what work you might have been able to complete, and you will be ignored by management. They are only interested in staff who fit into their ideal demographic, and are not interested in listening to more experienced staff that they hire about what improvements or concerns they have about the way the business runs. You should also not expect to speak to many people in the office, even if you are forced into the office for four days or more per week, because no one takes the time to greet or say goodbye to anyone else. They also run off Macs, which is a joke for a financial institution. If you want a position where you will have a clear job outline and support from your managers, look elsewhere. It is not worth trying to get either from this company.
