Pros

The students, and some staff are decent

Cons

Where to start. This is privately owned and privately run organization. So upper management answer to no one. Both owners are intrusive and manipulative, not to mention controlling and obsessive, often using money and scare tactics to manipulate employees into staying

Wow! Where to start indeed! I am sorry you had such a negative experience working at ASC. At ASC we work hard to provide an excellent educational experience to our students and providing an excellent working environment. If you had such concerns, as an accredited school, we have instituted policies and procedures to address them. I certainly would have been open to discussing your concerns and making ASC an even better place to work. Again, I am sorry working at ASC was a bad experience for you.

It is wonderful to hear that you valued the flexibility of the role, enjoyed working with our students, and felt supported by our management team. Creating a positive and supportive environment for both instructors and students is very important to us, and we are grateful that this was your experience. Pros

Decent pay and decent scheduling

Cons

- Zero oversight or interest in management over teacher growth or classroom issues. - Molecular curriculum (a textbook and a pile of files from previous teachers without any guidance, or interest). - Beyond a list of DESE goals for teachers to have students meet, zero managerial oversight into classroom instruction. - Frequently mismatched students to levels (I was told verbatim that sometimes students were moved up simply because "they've been here for too long" . - Zero standards for student classroom behavior (it was suggested to me that I ought to play scrabble with students when my class began to refuse to engage with the lesson or materials prepared for class. This was also what their sub had been doing with them protractedly before I arrived as a day to day employee)

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience at ASC did not meet your expectations. We take concerns about teacher support, student placement, classroom expectations, and communication seriously. Adult ESL programs can be complex, with changing enrollment, varied student needs, and evolving staffing demands, but instructors should still feel heard, supported, and treated professionally. We also understand the frustration that can result when expectations around future opportunities do not align with program needs as they develop over time. Clear communication in those situations is important. We appreciate your feedback and will take it seriously as we continue working to strengthen the experience of both our teachers and students. We would also welcome the opportunity to hear additional feedback directly.
