Pros

The employee engagement activities are nice but theres no interaction. They just give us free food.

Cons

Abbott is one of the worst medical manufacturing company. Division Structural Heart in the department Amplatzer is the worst. The managers, supervisors, and leads are incompetent which is negatively affecting both the work environment and company culture.  The manager is hiring inexperienced and incompetent people placed in charge - the blind leading the blind. The manager and supervisors are also choosing people in their favor to take on more responsibilities and to become leads. They will not hire the experienced, competent, and top performers to become lead nor to give them more responsibilities. Play high in favoritism and politics. Lack of communication. High employee turnover rate and has a toxic work culture. - Teams and individuals are not able to collaborate effectively, let alone to build a high performing organization. - Fail to supply promotions or raises for those with more experience and/or top performers. - Unhealthy work life balance where operators are working overtime regularly. - No proper training, tools, and development opportunities. - The manager and supervisor on first shift was seen in a meeting flirting with eachother. - Everything there seems like it's not working properly from your company badge of not being able to punch in to timecard machines reading your punches incorrectly to bad computer network and programming to poor working conditions in the dry room and more. - All the machines are old with no workplace ergonomics. Employees complain about their fingers, hands, wrist, and backache are hurting. Where is all the money in this department?

Pros

• Strong brand and market position • Talented individual contributors and subject matter experts sprinkled throughout the organization • Opportunity to work on products that impact many patients

Cons

These comments reflect experience within Abbott Diabetes Care. • Culture can feel political and risk-averse, with difficult issues often addressed indirectly rather than transparently • Decision-making is slowed by multiple layers of management, many of whom appear focused more on managing upward than enabling teams and execution • Long-tenured management structures can create limited accountability, discourage new ideas, and make modernization difficult • Some leadership styles feel hierarchical and dismissive of dissenting viewpoints, making it risky to challenge the status quo • Strategic thinking and decision authority are concentrated among a relatively small group of senior leaders, creating bottlenecks and limiting innovation • Office environments and ways of working often feel outdated compared to more modern organizations • Organizational responsiveness can be frustratingly low. Routine requests, decisions, and communications often require multiple follow-ups, creating unnecessary delays and reducing accountability • Promotions and performance assessments often lack transparency, leading employees to question whether advancement is based on impact, visibility, DEI, or internal relationships • Employees navigating significant career or life transitions may experience varying levels of support, visibility, and development opportunities, making career continuity and progression feel less predictable than they should be
