Annual reviews are completed AFTER management decides merit increase in order to match and appease corporate HR requirements. Management is quick to point out shortcomings and rarely compliments positive accomplishments. Technical abilities do not matter, achievements do not matter, only "perception" matters. Middle and upper management are entirely inbred with very little outside experience.
